Broadly speaking, tattoos history is as old as history of human beings. The most notable find in this regard is Otzi the Iceman dated about 3000 BCE. Mummies bearing tattooes on their bodies, also have been found in western part of China dated about 1000 BCE. It bears about 57 tattoos on his body. The tattooing in Japan is supposed to be as old as about ten thousand years, into the Paleolithic era. Various tattoos found at the places mentioned above include animals, straight lines, series of dots, crosses and monsters.
